Artists Circle Fine Art has worked on The Carlyle Group’s projects around the globe, from Hong Kong to San Francisco, Charlotte to Singapore. Each office usually features a bit of the local character of that city, while still reminding visitors and employees of the firm’s Washington DC origins. Carlyle’s New York office project is a special case.
Located in the world’s financial capital, The Carlyle Group’s New York office, second only to DC in size, holds a special place in the structure of the firm. The New York office affords a clear view of Central Park. This inspired us to propose a series of contemporary photographs by Victoria Cooper that capture the timeless architectural features created by Architect Calvert Vaux to complement Olmsted’s green jewel of New Amsterdam.
These photographs, with their time-in-another-age quality, soften the rough shoulder that can be New York. Elsewhere in The Carlyle offices, five panoramic photographs by David Orbock, capture elongated, yet still intimate views of the park, leaving even seasoned New Yorkers to ask themselves “…now where was he standing?” A third artist, Daniel Paterna, whose photographs are also in the space, seems to focus on the “here I am” of New York in crisp black and white. New York City is like no other and the selections The Carlyle Group made for its New York are true to that message. |
