Foley Hoag has a truly international law practice. Many of the attorneys of the firm's Washington office spend an overwhelming percentage of their hours either traveling beyond US borders or meeting in DC with clients who represent foreign countries. With this foundation laid, it was not difficult for Artists Circle Fine Art to understand Foley Hoag's desire to have their artwork collection be an extension of their practice philosophy.
Among the pieces the firm has acquired to date have been: an early 20th century Indonesian woman's wrap hand-painted palm fiber textile, which took three weeks to restore and mount; a contemporary quilt by Washington area artist Sandra Smith; a late 19th century Burmese boat-prow carving of Naga, the water god; wall sculptures of copper plate and African trading beads by sculpture Jack McLean; Mexican pottery in the school of Mata Ortiz and a six foot carved wooden door, which originally hung on a granary in Mali. Artists Circle Fine Art looks forward to assisting Foley Hoag in finding future art and artifacts that represent the four corners of the earth and the people who thrive there. |
